The Teacher Cadet Course (“Tomorrow’s Teachers”) is a dual credit accrual, AP weighted course.
Teacher Cadet is a nationally recognized curriculum-based program with implementation in 34 states across the nation.
The curriculum, Experiencing Education, Tenth Edition, is comprised of 44 rigorous standards that are correlated with those of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), Association of Teacher Educators (ATE), National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), and Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC). Also, In February 2010, these standards were adopted as the “national” standards for the Future Educators Association (FEA), an international student organization dedicated to supporting young people interested in education-related careers.
The level of rigor of the course covers the breadth of content, skills, and assignments as college level introductory education courses.
The class is a fast-paced and requires above-level writing skills. Students are also expected to complete a significant amount of outside readings and projects that are more in-depth and comprehensive than the norm and create an end-of-course portfolio.
The eligibility requirements to enroll in the Teacher Cadet course are competitive and tailored to high achieving students.
